Music Ministry
Co-Cathedral Choirs
The Co-Cathedral Choir’s repertoire ranges from traditional to contemporary music. There are two choirs that you are invited to participate in: the Schola Cantorum and the Good News Ensemble. The Schola Cantorum sings more traditional choral music while the Good News Ensemble typically sings more contemporary music.
The choir participates in the Sunday 9:30am Mass. Weekly rehearsals are on Wednesdays from 7:30 to 8:45pm.
Youth Choir
Children who are able to read the words and participate independently from their parents may sing with the Youth Choir. We recommend it for children in grades three and up. This group sings at Mass around four times per year, with one rehearsal during the week beforehand.
Children’s Christmas Choir
Children in grades K-12 are invited to sing in the Children's Choir for Christmas Eve Mass. There are three rehearsals throughout Advent. Some practice at home is needed, especially for those who are less comfortable with reading.
Resurrection Choir for Funerals
This is the choir that helps elevate prayer at Funeral liturgies.
It is a wonderful support for the family, parishioners and visitors who come
to give the last farewell to our brother or sister departed to God’s house.
Many people have appreciated the presence of this group.
The choir simply meets half an hour before each funeral liturgy, sings familiar music and possibly learns some choral parts each time. You will receive an email every time there is a funeral and you are welcome to participate as often as you are able.
Cantor/Leader
As skilled singers, Cantors share with the Director of Music and Liturgy, the responsibility of leading the congregation during Mass.
They are scheduled according to their availability.
Instrumentalist
Liturgical celebrations are always enriched by the presence of one or more musical instruments.
The Director of Music and Liturgy will provide scores for the instrument you play.
