Upcoming Sept. 2026 Ministry Fair
Maybe you've heard about the upcoming Ministry Fair and Potluck Supper on Wednesday, September 16 at 6:00pm in the School Gym. Maybe this is the first you're hearing about it! Either way, you and your family are all invited!
What is a Ministry Fair?
Representatives from many different service groups and community groups will be there to share about what they do and invite your participation. Each group will have a table with information to learn more, and each guest will have a handout on which they can mark ministries or groups they're interested in. After the Fair, someone from the groups you marked on your sheet will contact you with more information on how to participate.
Do I have to visit every table?
Nope! Visit your friends, make new ones, or just check out the groups that correspond to your stage in life, interests, or vocational journey. And don't forget to enjoy supper!
What's the deal with the potluck?
Last year, we collected feedback from many parishioners about what they would like to see happen at the Co-Cathedral. A number of folks expressed that they wish there were more potluck-style meals to help build community. We decided to give it a try! St. John's will provide the main dish and beverages, and we ask that parishioners with last names beginning with:
A-H bring dessert
I-R bring salad
S-Z bring appetizer or side dish
What kinds of groups will be there?
So many kinds! One of the things we've heard over and over when people learn about everything going on at St. John's is "Wow, I had no idea there were so many things happening!" The Ministry Fair will help spread the word about the diversity of ways that parishioners live out their Catholic faith in their everyday lives. Another way to learn about the different groups is to check out GroupFinder, a new online tool that we're using to help parishioners find the right group or ministry for them.
What about the group I'm part of? Will they be there?
Check with your group leader to see if they need volunteers to represent your group, or contact Laura to suggest a group that ought to be there.
What else is happening at the Ministry Fair?
The Fair will be an opportunity to welcome parishioners who have joined our community within the past year. Feel free to introduce yourself to someone new! You'll also be able to pick up packets of information about Faith Formation and Sacramental Preparation, or ask any questions you have for the Co-Cathedral staff members who will be present. You can even register for the 10th Annual Bean Bag Tournament (coming up on September 20) and get in a little practice with the boards and bags (weather permitting).
What if I can't make it on September 16? Will it happen again?
We don't currently have plans to repeat the Ministry Fair right away, but who knows where the Spirit will lead! If you have ideas or suggestions to share, please reach out to any of our staff at the Parish Center. In the meantime, you can visit the online GroupFinder to browse (some of) the groups that will be at the Fair. We're working on getting it up to date, so if you don't see a group that you think should be there, please contact Michelle to let us know!
