It is clear to me that I love serving this vibrant community and being a priest in companionship with you regenerates my heart. The surprise of the Holy Spirit continually reawakens our longing as we meet the Presence of Christ in one another and consciously bring Christ to every human experience and situation though our belonging. I am extremely grateful for your generosity and the countless blessings for our community as we continue to be challenged and respond by living our baptism.
As a transforming community, we experience and recognize a Presence that calls us to a way of life that is filled with possibilities. Our hearts are incomplete and we have a deep desire for the Infinite which is brought to fulfillment by our walking together with the One to whom we belong, Christ Jesus the Lord. We have so many opportunities as a community to gather around educational and formational experiences. We also have the opportunity to be moved by the power of the Holy Spirit with our liturgical space and fellowship to one another. The hospitality is a clear part of our availability and the subway connection expresses this adventure and access.
We at the Catholic Church of St. John the Evangelist desire to embrace the advancement of technology with prayerful intentions of exploring how we can better connect and communicate through our website. We seek to provide virtual visitors –whether parishioner or guest, with a welcoming embrace and easy access that tells the story of St. John’s mission, our history, our services and our community of faith.
May our hearts be enlivened with true justice, mercy and begging hearts for the gift of peace in our world and within our own St. John the Evangelist Community. We have not arrived and are not finished, but we continually remain open to the Gospel. When we stand before the mystery, we need not conclude “I’ve got it!”, but only that there is more.
Gratefully in the Lord Jesus,

Rev. Msgr. Gerald A. Mahon
