The position of Director of Faith Formation: Children (Preschool-Grade 5) and First Reconciliation and First Eucharist Preparation at The Church of St John the Evangelist upholds the mission of the Church to evangelize and bring others to Christ. The position is focused on areas of pastoral and formational ministries including weekly religious education classes for children (Preschool-Grade 5), sacramental preparation (First Reconciliation and Eucharist) for children and coordination of the Sunday morning coop nursery. The position requires experience and education in the liturgy and rites of the Catholic Church, effective personal communication capabilities, strong organizational and time management skills, and the ability to collaborate with a ministry team. The Director will promote understanding of evangelization in its broadest scope by providing educational opportunities and events relating to spiritual formation and growth through belonging to Christ and living the life of the Church.
Development, coordination, and administration of SJE Faith Formation Program for children in pre-school through fifth grade, including sacramental preparation for celebration of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist.
Provide guidance and support for Sunday morning coop nursery, Children’s Liturgy of the Word, and Vacation Bible School.
Recruitment, formation and affirmation of volunteer catechists. Implement and support diocesan safe environment policies including compliance with VIRTUS training and Circle of Grace programming.
Complete and file all required diocesan annual reports and maintain parish sacramental records.
Create yearly schedule with formation team including classes, retreats, parent meetings, and sacramental celebrations and collaborate with team for coordination of special events, prayer services, adult bible study and faith sharing groups, presentations promoting educational and spiritual formation and provide hospitality and volunteer opportunities to new parishioners.
Attend diocesan workshops and parish staff meetings and comply with diocesan and parish guidelines and policies regarding faith formation and sacramental preparation.
Maintain fiscal responsibility by respecting budget; ordering and organizing classroom materials and supplies.
Assist in planning First Reconciliation and First Eucharist retreats, liturgies and receptions in collaboration with Pastor and Director of Liturgy and Music.
Terms of Employment
Full-time, exempt position requiring some evening and weekend hours and reporting directly to Parish Administrator.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul Central Dispatch Volunteers
Position requirements: A desire to help persons in crisis, some computer skills, ability to hear on a cell phone.
Duties: One day every second week or at designated times, a volunteer answers calls directed to The Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP). During the conversation, the volunteer will gain the information that needs to be passed onto the SVdP Conference that is the designated receiver of the information. The information needed will be constant, standard, and decided by the SVdP Conferences. There are six SVdP Conferences in Rochester.
Aids supplied to volunteers: Volunteers will be trained, volunteers will be associate members of SVdP and are invited to join in the conference meetings and all training and retreats provided to SVdP members, volunteers will meet periodically to review needs of the position, and there will be a backup available in case of changes in personal availability.
Equipment/supplies needed: A volunteer for SVdP Central Dispatch needs a telephone (the phone can be the individual’s home phone or cell phone) A central telephone number (the number will be accessed by the volunteer during their time as volunteer), access to the internet, a computer, and a Gmail address.
Time needed for position: There can be from zero to thirteen calls on a given day. The calls can be answered on the cell phone at any location as long as the caller’s privacy is not invaded. Each call and subsequent duties, will take about 30 minutes.
